Jaisalmer's location deep in the Thar Desert means getting there takes a bit more planning than a typical Indian city break. Here's how the main options compare.
By train
Jaisalmer has its own railway station with direct trains connecting to Delhi, Jaipur, and Jodhpur, including overnight services that are popular with travellers since they save a night of accommodation. This is generally the most comfortable and cost-effective way to arrive.
By road
Jodhpur is the nearest major city, roughly 5-6 hours away by road, and a common route for travellers combining both cities. We also offer taxi service for exactly this kind of intercity transfer, with pickup from Jodhpur or other nearby cities on request.
By air
Jaisalmer has a small domestic airport, though flight connections are limited and seasonal, so it's worth checking current routes before relying on it. Jodhpur Airport is the more consistently connected option and the usual fallback if a direct Jaisalmer flight doesn't suit your dates.
Whichever way you arrive, we can arrange pickup from the railway station, bus stand, or airport as part of your taxi booking or tour package — just let us know your arrival details when you enquire.
