Top Things to Do in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer rewards a mix of city sightseeing and desert time. If it's your first visit, this is roughly the order most travellers work through it in.

  • Jaisalmer Fort — the living fort at the heart of the city, with Jain temples, havelis, and narrow lanes to explore.
  • Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli & Salim Singh Ki Haveli — three of the city's most detailed havelis, each within easy reach of the fort.
  • Gadisar Lake — a calm, historic lake with a carved gateway, good for an unhurried walk or a boat ride.
  • Bada Bagh — a garden of royal cenotaphs on the edge of the city, popular at sunset.
  • Sam Sand Dunes — the classic desert safari destination, roughly 40km from the city, for camel or jeep safari and desert camps.
  • Kuldhara — an abandoned village with a well-known local legend, a short drive from the city.

A one-day visit can realistically cover the fort, the havelis, and Gadisar Lake. If you have two or three days, add Bada Bagh, Kuldhara, and a proper evening or overnight at the dunes — that's where most of our tour packages are built around.
